Want to stage your play here?

During 2007 the circumstances under which Studio Salford operated went through a lot of change. Because of this we were unable to accept proposed work from visiting companies.

However, from February 2008 this will change and we will once again be accepting submissions from companies or individuals who wish to stage work at the King's Arms under the Studio Salford banner.

We have a set procedure for proposals to stage work at Studio Salford:
First of all, please make sure your production is no longer than 2 hours (including any intervals) and that you are not aiming at an audience of under 18's - we operate from a pub! If this is OK, next thing you need to do is download the proposals application document, fill it in and send it in along with your script backed up with:

• A loose idea of when you would like the production to be staged.
• A brief about your company, its ethos, backlog of work etc. and / or a similar brief about yourself (min 50 words)
• A brief of your directorial intentions with the piece in question (one side of A4 at least) - you may want to insert extra information at certain points within your script.
• Anything else you think may inform and back up your proposal to a team of decision makers who don't know you and need to evaluate your proposal based purely on the information you have given. This could be in the form of past press releases, any video or audio footage, publicity from past productions or ideas for the production you are thinking of staging. Anything really that you think would help.

Once you have all this in place, post it to:
Proposals, Studio Salford, The King's Arms, 11 Bloom Street, Salford M3 6AN
...or simply pop it in behind the bar in an envelope marked "Proposals - Studio Salford".

If you wish to receive confirmation of its safe arrival, please include an SAE or your email address. If you wish for it to be returned at some point in the future, please include an SAE covering the weight of everything you wish to have returned.
Your proposal will then be considered by the Proposal Team. If successful you will be then called in for a meeting / informal chat, and a final decision will be made and we can take things from there.

Actors Wanted

In order to assist our In-House Companies with their casting requirements, Studio Salford holds a casting book on the premises. Please send your CV & photograph to:

Please note that the majority of productions staged here are done on a profit share basis. Your details may also be shown to visiting companies who are having difficulty in casting their production.
If you have a problem with any of the above, please make a note of this when you send in your CV and we will make sure you are only considered in the way you wish to be.

Writers Wanted

If you would like your writing to be considered by our five In-House Companies for production, please email a synopsis (at least one side of A4) and ten pages of the script you wish to submit, to: writing [at] studiosalford [dot] com (What does this email address mean?)

We will then get back to you with the outcome and if you wish, some general feedback. If any of the In-House Companies are interested in seeing more of your script, we will inform you of the companies interested, and an address for you to send in your full script. The company in question will then contact you regarding their conclusion.

Artists / graphic designers

We are looking for artists to collaborate with our publicity including posters & flyers, underground campaigns etc. We have little money at the moment, but this could be an excellent way to broaden your portfolio.

Our Funding Team gets back up & running this March introducing you to new people and possible enlightenment regarding funding for your future projects. No experience necessary as everyone will be learning from the ground up. So, if you already have experience & think you can do what it takes to help Studio Salford, or if you're entirely new to it all but have a good idea that you can come up with inventive ways of procuring some fundings for Studio Salford - come along! ALL WELCOME.

DONATIONS WANTED

Studio Salford is an entirely voluntarily led & run organisation consisting of many volunteers. The majority of productions going on at the studio do so on a profit-share basis only. We have an office to pay for, the performance space to pay for and constant strains on office & technical equipment.

Studio Salford's In-House Companies also like to go "Out & About", taking shows developed here and showing them at various festivals around the country, further informing the wider public of our existence and the work of everyone involved. This can sometimes put a strain on our companies' personal finances.
